The most important relationship you will have is the relationship with yourself.
Understanding is the first step to acceptance, and only with acceptance can there be recovery. No amount of self-improvement can make up for any lack of self-acceptance. Often, it is not about becoming a new person, but becoming the person you were meant to be and already are, but don’t know how to be.
Do you want to know what self-love and acceptance are and be able to love and accept yourself?
Emotional problems are among the most painful of all. Occasionally we may feel angry, sad, lonely, guilty, or frightened. When these feelings take over and become dominant, our lives can become battlegrounds.
What we do with our feelings is important. Are we going to act out in some way, abuse ourselves or blame others? The belief that we’re not good enough is often at the core of these problems. Good mental health begins with loving our self as we love and approve of ourselves, the good and the so-called bad we can begin to change.
Part of self-acceptance is releasing other people’s opinions. Many of the things we’ve chosen to believe about ourselves have absolutely no basis in truth.
