Morning Habits To Transform Your Life

Did you know that the first hour of the morning is vital?

How you spend your morning will determine your experience of the rest of your day.
How you start your morning can determine your experiences for the day – The power of positivity can change everything for the better.

How did you start your day today?

When you woke up, what were the first words that came out of your mouth? Did you moan? Did you think about what wasn’t working in your life?
How you start your day is often how you live your life. What do you say when you first look in the mirror? What do you say when you take a shower? What do you say when you get dressed?
Did you run out of the house with no time for a calm start? is the house upside down ? What do you do when you get into the car? Do you slam the door and deplete your energy complaining about going to work.
Too many people start off their day with “Oh, no! It’s another day and I’ve got to get up”. This is a good time to start with your gratitude, “thank goodness I am alive”

Get Up Earlier Than Necessary

There is nothing worse than rushing in the morning.Perhaps you are a busy parent who needs to get the children ready for school, or if you have to go to work it’s important to give yourself some time to start your day off in the right way. It is a recipe for being stressed out and frustrated for the rest of the day. Get up early enough so that you can have a relaxed breakfast, leave your home with the bed made and the breakfast dishes cleaned up. Not only will you start your day in a relaxed fashion, but you’ll return to a home that is tidy and clean.

When you get up, it’s important to have a habit that feels good to you and to say something to yourself that makes you feel good setting yourself up for the best day possible for yourself. You don’t have to make these changes in your life all at once. Just pick one ritual for the morning and start there. Then once you have this as part of your daily routine choose another one and keep practicing. Consider the aim is to feel good.

If you have a negative way of starting your day, you’re not going to have a good day. It’s not possible. If you do your best to have the morning be difficult, your day will be difficult. Consider using positive affirmations to start your day perhaps “Today something amazing is going to happen” or “Today is going to be a great day”.

Set Your Mind in A Positive Direction

Make a decision every morning that you are going to remain focused on the positive, no matter what comes your way. Admittedly, that is hard. On occasion, we are surprised by bad news. Or we receive a frustrating email or phone call. The best thing you can do is to make a decision at the start of each day that you aren’t going to let anything take your energy. Believe it or not, that is a choice we make not just in the morning, but every moment of every day.

Stay Unplugged from Technology

Besides turning off an alarm that might be on your phone, resist the urge to check your email or social media. It sets you up for a day of being enslaved to technology, and your morning time should be reserved just for you. This might mean disabling notifications on your home screen so you’re not tempted by that Facebook update or mounting emails

Move your body

Getting your blood flowing with a few stretches can do wonders for your mood, and get you ready for the day. This helps to loosen those stiff muscles. The morning is a great time to go for a run too. It’s so quiet and peaceful in the morning, you could go for a mindful run and have little interruptions. The energy and vitality you get from exercise is a great thing to do in the morning as it keeps you energized for the entire rest of your day.

Set and affirm your goals for the day

Set some realistic goals for the day, but limit them to three. These might include packing your lunch instead of eating out to save money, committing to that lunch time yoga class, or scheduling the dentist appointment you’ve been putting off.

So when you wake tomorrow, ask yourself, do I want to think and act like I did yesterday, or do I choose to be a new me today?
